Mission
WALK Gallery aims to collaborate with artists, designers and property owners to curate and install window displays in vacant storefronts in the Charleston, SC area. Following in the tradition of exhibitions of contemporary public art displays in Charleston SC, WALK Gallery intends to expand on the existing dialogue of community art. WALK Gallery is capitalizing on shifting the current economic paradigm by enlivening empty spaces to showcase our culture’s commodities by filling these spaces and bringing attention to our most creative class — visual artists. In this way, WALK Gallery has set the intention of creating a community dialogue and encouraging a connection and interaction between those who live, work and visit the neighborhoods where empty becomes full and “vacant” no longer has a negative connotation. Our goal is that these art filled windows will keep our community a vibrant and prosperous place, encouraging visitors and locals to interact with ou city.
